-
In TGPL catalog nomenclature, “ISS” stands for “Input Solid Shaft” — i.e. instead of a hollow-shaft or motor-flange adapter input, the gearbox’s input shaft is a solid shaft.
-
Mechanically, that means you mount your driving motor or coupling directly onto that solid shaft (with key/ keyway & coupling), rather than plugging a motor flange or shaft into a hollow bore.
-
The “solid shaft” input configuration generally offers better alignment, higher rigidity, and often higher load-carrying capacity compared to hollow bore or flange/hub-mount types, especially when the drive is from a coupling rather than direct motor mount.
🔧 What are the Design & Construction Features (common to TGPL Worm Gear Boxes)
-
The housing (for small/medium frames) is made of high-quality die-cast aluminium, and for larger frames it is cast iron.
-
Worm shaft is case-hardened steel (20Cr), heat treated to get high surface hardness. Worm-wheel (gear) is a bronze alloy — giving good wear resistance and efficient torque transmission.
-
The gearbox is built for high reduction ratios, good torque amplification, low noise, and maintenance-free (lubricated for life) operation under standard conditions.
